I’m pretty sure that’s news to most of us. I thought that it was common knowledge that a new municipal hall will be built at the old public market. I was wrong. I heard from a reliable source that it is indeed up for sale and that the new town hall, if there ever will be one, will be built at the new public market compound.
When I was informed and was asked what I thought about it, I couldn’t quite form a concrete opinion because that’s fresh news to me. The first thing that came to mind was, what will they do with the money from the sale? The new public market lot is fully paid; I heard that Rep. Baterina will provide funds for the construction of the new town hall. The LGU just raised more than a million pesos from the recently concluded popularity contest. So where else will the money from the sale of the old public market be used? The cynic in me thought of the forthcoming elections. Need I be specific?
All I hope is that the authorities follow the proper public bidding procedures and, more importantly in the spirit of transparency, let the public know how the proceeds will be used.

Who owns this parcel? Is it our town or under one family name? And how much are they selling it for? How big is this lot?
Can you please let us know the seller of this lot?
Thanks you very much!
1 | Jane January 12th, 2007 at 1:36 amI guess the local government of San Juan owns the lot, otherwise the SB wouldn’t be deliberating on the issue. In that case, ideally, the sale is done through public bidding procedures - highest bidder gets the lot. But I don’t know the starting price.
2 | Lani January 12th, 2007 at 9:54 amWell…if this parcel go with the highest bid, that means that there will be a lot of giveaways for sure in couple of months???….we better make sure that a buyer will not be mislead by just talks… it must be written in black and white….I am pretty sure that this lot will triple the price and its a lot of money to waste….lawyers in need and indeed!!
When we grow up with a hierarchy, we learn from the master…..we should think once in awhile…have we changed totally?
I can see that we have an incredible gift and responsibility each of our lives represents–lets use it wisely and not be ignorant of what the others, the evil doers are doing. Carl Sandburg says, “time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.”
Let then do the things the way that is right because we are the righteous one……

You are something else aren’t you!
You quote “lets then do the things the way it is right because we are the righteous one…..
Then you state “My credibility in writing isn’t functioning properly as I am only contributing an act of respond while at work.”
What you should have stated was “my credibility in writing isn’t CREDIBLE and isn’t FAIR since I am writing this on WORK TIME and STEALING FROM MY EMPLOYER as a matter of fact!”
You really need to STOP already!
4 | Johnathan December 4th, 2007 at 10:35 pmI am sorry, Jonathan, I just read your response now…but to answer your message, everyone who is working at least here in the States, is entitled to a break time: 15 minutes in the morning and in the afternoon and, one hour lunch time. Don’t you ever think I am only writing at my breaktime or at lunch time?
